Minha escolha ... é a escolha dEles !!!

Somos seguidores de Gaurāṅga !!!

Free will, the ability to choose and desire and Mañjarī-bhāva !!!

In his audio comments on Rāga-vartma-candrikā 11, quoting Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu 1.2.294 Advaita Dāsa says:

“Following the Vrajavāsīs of “your choice” is an empty shell. There’s a principle of bestowal. Anarpita-carīṁ cirāt. Mahāprabhu came especially to GIVE this amorous love for Kṛṣṇa. If it is given or placed in the heart by mercy of Lord Caitanya or Śrī Guru, we cannot say it is our own choice.”

Also he explains:

"Free will seems another Christian insertion into Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava philosophy so popular with western rationalists. There is Anādi karma (Vedānta-sūtra 2.1.35) and there is no question of free will when there is Anādi-karma. The entry into Bhakti is not due to free will.

The Jīvātma has Kartṛtva (power to act), but that Kartṛtva is granted by God only. It is limited Kartṛtva. An object in darkness cannot get into the sunlight unless the sunlight falls on it. Free will is like the will to see. The eyes can see - that much capacity is there. But the eyes can see only that which is within its field of vision. If the eyes are in darkness, they can only see darkness. They cannot see light. Bhagavān prompts the Jīva according to his Svabhāva, Karma, Saṁskāras etc.

The Jīva always has the capacity to will, feel and act, but what he wills, feels and does is restricted by his own Karma, Svabhāva and the Lord's sanctions. By free will, one who is under Bahiraṅgā-śakti cannot come under Antaraṅga and vice-versa. His free will under Bahiraṅga-śakti is restricted to acting within Bahiraṅgā-śakti.

Sanātana Goswāmī says there is freedom for the Siddhas in Vaikuṇṭha, but that is freedom compared to this material world - freedom from the Bahiraṅgā-śakti, but not freedom to leave/fall from Vaikuṇṭha. The Jīva is then under the Antarāṅgā-śakti and it will be impossible for him to fall. The Mamatva (possessiveness) has changed from a dead body to Parama-saccidānanda-vastu. It will be impossible for Mamatva to change again. Siddhi is Siddhi - otherwise it is not Siddhi - perfection.

Therefore, the Jīva's free will is within the limits of his freedom as granted by Īśvara and is bound by his own Karma. If minute independence is not there, then the Jīva would become like Jaḍa (dead matter). Then all scriptural injunctions will become useless and the defect of not following them will come to the Lord.

But that independence is no way called free will. That is not there in the Jīva's Svarūpa. It is a dependent independence. Like a bird able to fly inside a zoo. And the bird is a turkey or a hen. Not a peacock, eagle or dove."

End of quotes.

Even though we may say that the Jīvas (Taṭastha) has a tiny independence and some ability to choose (free will) ... they do not really have !!!

Due to the great influence of Mahāprabhu's strength [samarpayitum unnatojjvala-rasaṁ]

The word Samarpayitum in the Anarpita-carīṁ Śloka shows there's no free will in Rasa. Its not chosen but bestowed.

A Sādhana-siddha may use his free will, but because of the intensity of Prema and the direct association of Śrī Śrī Rādhā Kṛṣṇa and Their associates in the spiritual world, he does not misuse his independence. And so, in this perspective we can say that in fact ... we do not have free will.

Likewise, the power of the Gauḍīya association's influence is very strong and intense. And although we may be inclined to a Rasa other than Mādhurya (specifically Mañjarī-bhāva), due to the impressions of past lives, by force of the strong and intense Gauḍīya association we will be (the great majority) "dragged" to accept Mañjarī-bhāva.

This is because the Sthāyi-bhāva may change before the aspirant reaches the stage of Bhāva (there are 3 types of Sthāyi-bhāva, one called Svaccha-rūpa-sthāyi-bhāva, emotion influenced by others' emotions). What is the reality for most of the inhabitants of Kali-yuga.

Of course, for those who have reached the phase of Bhāva, and have crystallized their Sthāyi-bhāva, it will not be possible to change, nor it is required. For all Rasas are wonderful.

The example of Murāri Gupta and Anupama (both in Rāma Dāsya). Śrī Caitanya attempted to convert Murāri Gupta and Śrī Rūpa and Śrī Sanātana attempted to convert their brother Anupama, but as Murāri Gupta and Anupama were already with the crystallized Sthāyi-bhāva they did not change.

When I say Gauḍīya association, I mean that all Caitanya's followers are in Mādhurya (6 Gosvāmīs and not only).

Followers of Nityānanda and Advaita are in other Rasas.

The power of the Gauḍīya association's influence is so strong and intense that even followers of Nitāi and Advaita receive a Svarūpa in Mañjarī-bhāva.

“All Pārṣadas (associates) of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu have a Svarūpa in Mādhurya-rasa. Advaita Prabhu is Viśākhā and Rati Mañjari. All lines descending from Mahāprabhu’s Pārṣadas can bestow Gopī-bhāva and Gopī-prema. Though they may be famous as personalities in Vraja outside of Gopī-bhāva (f.i. Nityānanda is Balarāma but also Ananga Mañjari), they all have a place in Gopī-bhāva as well.” (Advaita Dāsa)

And so, for example, we have the case of Śrī Dhanañjaya Paṇḍita who is Vasudāma Sakha and also by the mercy of Mahāprabhu, he, at the same time, is Śrī Madana Mañjarī.

Because this is the desire of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu, may all the souls of Kali-yuga occupy themselves in Rādhā-dāsyaṁ.

In reality the Gauḍīya-rāgānugā-bhakti-sādhaka has NO choice, since it’s all given by Gaurāṅga Himself and all the Paramparā in Mañjarī-bhāva (and even the Dvādaśa-gopāla).

So, due to the strength of Mahaprabhu Who wants to give Mādhurya Mañjarī-bhāva [samarpayitum unnatojjvala-rasaṁ], as effect, Gauḍīya association is also very strong.

"Devotees who are in a relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead in conjugal love are considered to be the most confidential devotees of Lord Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Those who engage in the service of Lord Nityānanda Prabhu and Lord Advaita Prabhu generally have relationships of parental love, fraternity, servitude and neutrality. When such devotees develop great attachment for Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, they too become situated within the intimate circle of devotees in conjugal love.” (Śrī Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura - Anubhāṣya CC Ādi-līlā 7.17)

"When he develops his love for Nityānanda Prabhu he is freed from all attachment to the material world, and at that time he becomes eligible to understand the Lord’s pastimes in Vṛndāvana. In that condition, when one develops his love for the six Gosvāmīs, he can understand the conjugal love between Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. These are the different stages of a pure devotee’s promotion to conjugal love in the service of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa in an intimate relationship with Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu." (Śrīla Prabhupāda - CC Ādi-līlā 7.17)

In fact, there is no prominent lineage in Sakhya-bhāva. And those Gauḍīyas devotees who follow this mood of Sakhya actually promote Mañjarī-bhāva.

"Those influenced by Sakhya-bhāva are not in competition with Mañjarī-bhāva and there is no need for Mañjarī-bhāva Upāsakas to militate against it. Indeed, under the influence of Sakhya-bhāva Nitāi’s sector has done more to promote Gopī-bhāva than any other sector. Nitāi started the worship of Gaura. It is under His influence that Caitanya-bhāgavata and Caitanya-caritāmṛta were written. The road to Gopī-bhāva goes through Him. As Narottama Dāsa Ṭhākura sings, heno nitāi bine bhāi, rādhā-kṛṣṇa pāite nāi." (Tripurāri Svāmī)

So, for the questions: "suppose someone associates intimately with a devotee who is following Subala to become a Priya-narmā-sakha, and he also associates intimately with someone following Rūpa-mañjarī to become a Mañjarī. Which one will influence him the most? Who will he follow?"

The one which will influence him the most is  the devotee in Mañjarī-bhāva following Rūpa-mañjarī, due to the influence of Gaurāṅga Himself and all the Paramparā in Mañjarī-bhāva (and even the Dvādaśa-gopāla)

No doubt it is the Sādhaka that will have to choose, but this choice will be according to the strong influence received by the association in the present life.

My choice ... is THEIR choice !!!

We are followers of Gaurāṅga !!!
